Pre-Bled vs Not-Bled Brake Kits: Which Should You Choose?

Pre-Bled vs Not-Bled Brake Kits: Which Should You Choose?

We're not a warehouse. We're riders — and one of the most common questions we get is: should I buy the pre-bled kit or save a few bucks and bleed it myself? Here's the honest answer.

What Does "Pre-Bled" Actually Mean?

A pre-bled brake kit ships with the hydraulic system already filled and purged of air. The caliper, line, and master cylinder are connected and ready to go. You bolt it on, torque the hardware, and ride. No syringes, no DOT fluid, no mess.

A not-bled kit ships dry. The components are the same — same caliper, same rotor, same bracket — but you'll need to fill and bleed the system yourself before the brakes will work.

Pre-Bled: Who It's For

  • First-time installers. If you've never bled brakes before, skipping that step removes the biggest failure point in the install.
  • Riders who want to ride, not wrench. The pre-bled kit installs in about 30 minutes. The not-bled kit adds 30–60 minutes of bleeding time on top of that — longer if you're learning.
  • Anyone who's had a spongy brake nightmare. Air in the line is the #1 cause of soft, inconsistent brake feel. Pre-bled eliminates that risk out of the box.

Not-Bled: Who It's For

  • Experienced mechanics. If you bleed brakes regularly and have the tools, you can save money and use your preferred fluid spec.
  • Shops and builders. If you're building multiple bikes or integrating the kit into a larger build, bleeding in-house makes sense.
  • Budget-conscious riders who are patient. The not-bled kit costs less. If you're comfortable with the process, it's a legitimate way to save.

The Price Difference

On our OEM Ultra Bee Brake Kit for Surron LBX / E Ride Pro, the pre-bled single caliper kit runs $299.99. The not-bled version is $189.99 — a $110 difference. For most riders, the time saved and the confidence of a properly bled system is worth it. But if you know what you're doing, the not-bled kit is a solid option.

The same logic applies to our OEM Talaria Brake Kit — pre-bled starts at $299.99, not-bled at $199.99.

Our Recommendation

If you're asking the question, buy pre-bled. The riders who choose not-bled already know they want it. Everyone else is better served by a kit that's ready to bolt on and ride.
